DREAMWATCH MAGAZINE QUOTES:

Below are some quotes from the new edition of DreamWatch magazine (issue #58) which has an interview with jms explaining what problems he was having with TNT:

"At the end of The Well of Forever there's an investigator from the new version of the Psi Corps who is checking out Matheson and making sure he isn't breaking the rules. The crew outwit him at one point , towards the very end."

TNT didn't like the ending. What they suggested and this is (was) verbatim from their notes:

"Gideon arranges for Dureena to seduce the investigator. She entices him to use his power to "seduce" her, which is a serious violation of the Telepath Laws. The stakes are high. However she must keep her focus on the seduction. If he reads her mind, he will expose her goal. He will kill her. Gideon catches him with his pants down and blackmails him."

JMS said, "What you're saying is Gideon arranges for Dureena to be "assaulted" by this guy so they can catch him in the act. Is that what you're saying? And they said yes. 'This is what you want the captain of this ship to do to one of his crew? Are you out of your mind?"

(They wanted one of the characters to become a sexual explorer who has sexual contact with aliens... to understand them better, they wanted the show invaded by 'over sexed aliens' every now and then and wanted fist fights and sex on the bridge.)

JMS says in the interview that all of their suggestions were morally offensive.

TNT were also contractually obliged to make the full 22 episodes but figured that Warner's wasn't going to sue itself so dropped the show in breach of contract.

CRUSADE FEATURE IN DREAMWATCH MAGAZINE:

I thought you might want to know that the new edition of DreamWatch, issue #58, includes a Crusade feature:

"In an exclusive DreamWatch interview, J Michael Straczynski breaks his silence, and reveals the true story behind the termination of Babylon 5's spin-off series, Crusade. Putting rumours and speculation to rest, he candidly reflects on his struggle to bring the show to life, and his attitude towards its demise."

"Revealed: TNT's controversial commandments; the likelihood of Crusade's survival; the Great Maker's final gesture of defiance."

NEW TNT TIMESLOT'S TO VOTE FOR:

On TNT's Babylon 5 web site as reported yesterday, starting Monday May 3, Babylon 5 will go on hiatus for a few weeks and they are going to give you a chance to vote for the new timeslot. They have now added three more choices to the list:

  1. Monday through Fridays 7 am ET/PT
  2. Monday through Fridays 8 am ET/PT
  3. Every Saturday morning
  4. Every Sunday morning
  5. Two hour Saturday block
  6. Two hour Sunday block
  7. None of the above
So as well as the previous choices, you can now choose a two hour block on either Saturday or Sunday or you can choose none of them. If you choose none of them, I presume that they will try and find another timeslot to vote for.

Click here to go to TNT's Babylon 5 web site and vote!

TNT'S CRUSADE SITE OPENS:

The official TNT Crusade web site has now opened, featuring a small image gallery, brief episode descriptions of all thirteen episodes and with QuickTime & other media forthcoming.
